Setting up an HTTP-JSON type delivery method

Delivery methods of HTTP-JSON type send alerts to servers configured to receive JSON objects. Alerts are encapsulated as a JSON object and sent using the HTTP POST request method. Alerts can be sent using HTTP or HTTPS. If the destination server uses Digest access authentication, you can identify the user and password required for authentication.

To establish an HTTP-JSON type delivery method:

  1. Go to Administration → Alerts Configuration → Delivery methods.
  2. Select HTTP-JSON in the left-hand panel, then click the New button. The Create a New Delivery Method window appears.

  3. Enter the required information:

Name A unique name that identifies this specific delivery method.
Url The URL of the server to which the alerts should be sent.
Timezone This is the timezone that will be used to calculate when alerts can be sent based upon the permitted sending schedules defined in alert policies that use this delivery method.
Language The language in which to send the alert content.
Authenticated Optionally, select the Authenticated check box if you want to use Digest access authentication with the destination server. If selected, you will also have to enter User and Password for authentication.
  4. Click the Save button. An HTTP message with a code is sent to the URL specified in the delivery method. This activation code must be validated on the server side before the delivery method can be used.
