General group (filter)

1. Is not null

Identifies non-null values in a given column. This is particularly useful when you want to identify rows/records with null or not null values.

How does it work?

This operation requires only one argument:

Argument Format
Value (mandatory) Any

Example

We want to see only the rows in the demo.ecommerce.data table where the clientIpAddress is known. Select Filter on the query toolbar, then select Is not null as the operation. The arguments needed are:

  • Value clientIpAddress column

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows in which the clientIpAddress value is not null.

2. Is null

How does it work?

This operation requires only one argument:

Argument Format
Value (mandatory) Any

Example

We want to see only the rows in the demo.ecommerce.data table where the clientIpAddress is not known, and therefore null. Select Filter on the query toolbar, then select Is null as the operation. The arguments needed are:

  • Value clientIpAddress column

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows in which the clientIpAddress value is null.
