Network group (filter)

This set of filtering operations is based on the formats and address assignments for Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4).

1. Is in

Identifies those IP addresses that belong to a specified IPv4 address block.

How does this work?

This operation requires two arguments:

Argument Format
IP (mandatory) IPv4
in net (mandatory) Net (An IPv4 net must always have the following format: x.x.x.x/n)

Example

We want to filter the demo.ecommerce.data table to display the rows with IPv4 addresses that belong to the 0.0.0.0/5 address block. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Is in as the operation. The arguments needed are:

  • IP clientIpAddress column
  • in net - 0.0.0.0/5

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows where the clientIpAddress value belongs to the 0.0.0.0/5 address block.

2. Is Private IPv4

Identifies those IP addresses within one of the ranges reserved for use only in private networks

How does this work?

This operation requires only one argument:

Argument Format
IP to test (mandatory) IP

Example

We want to filter the demo.ecommerce.data table to display the rows with private IP addresses in the clientIpAddress column. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Is Private IPv4 as the operation. The argument is the column containing the IP addresses:

  • IP to test clientIpAddress column

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows where the clientIpAddress value is within one of the standard ranges reserved for private network traffic. In this case, no private IPs were found, so you will see 0 results.

3. Is Public IPv4

Identifies those IP addresses within one of the standard ranges allocated for communications over the public network

How does this work?

This operation requires only one argument:

Argument Format
IP to test (mandatory) IP

Example

We want to filter the demo.ecommerce.data table to display the rows with public IP addresses in the clientIpAddress column. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Is Public IPv4 as the operation. The argument is the column containing the IP addresses:

  • IP to test clientIpAddress column

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows where the clientIpAddress value is within one of the standard ranges allocated for public network use.
