String group (filter)

1. Contains tokens

Creates a filter that identifies the presence of a specific alphanumerical set of characters (token) in a given string.

How does it work?

This operation needs at least two arguments; Value and contains. Additionally, you can add the right extended and left extended arguments to expand the length of the token.

Argument Format
Value (mandatory) String
contains (mandatory) String
left extended Boolean
right extended Boolean

Example

Here we will use the filter to isolate only those rows whose uri value contains "09" the demo.ecommerce.data table.

  • Value - uri column
  • contains - 09
  • left extended - true
  • right extended - false

After applying the operation, the column uri will show the following data:

  • Since the argument left extended has been set to true, strings containing letters or numbers to the left of the indicated token will appear.
  • The right extended argument is false, so strings with letters or numbers to the right of the token will not appear.
  • Strings with non-alphanumerical characters to the right of the token will appear.

After applying the filter, only the rows where the uri value contains the token "09". Additionally:

  • Since the left extended argument was set to true, rows with uri values containing letters or numbers to the left of the token are included.
  • Since the right extended argument was set to false, rows with uri values containing letters or numbers to the right of the token are filtered out.
  • However, rows with uri values containing non-alphanumerical characters to the right of the token are included.

2. Contains

Checks for the presence of one or more values in a given string. The filter will identify those strings containing at least one of the indicated values.

How does it work?

This operation requires at least two arguments: Value and contains. Optionally, you can add as many or also arguments as you need:

Argument Format
Value (mandatory) String
contains (mandatory) String
or also String

Example

We want to apply a filter to the demo.ecommerce.data table to display only those rows whose timestamp contains either "24" or "25". Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Contains as the operation. The arguments needed are:

  • Value - timestamp column
  • contains - 24
  • or also - 25

After applying the filter, only the rows where the timestamp value contains either 24 or 25 are displayed.

3. Ends with

Identifies field values that end with a specified string.

How does it work?

This operation requires two arguments:

Argument Format
String (mandatory) String
Suffix (mandatory) String

Example

Here we want to apply a filter to the the demo.ecommerce.data table that displays only those rows with uri values ending in 7. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Ends with as the operation. The arguments needed are:

  • String - uri column
  • Suffix - 7

After applying the filter, only the rows where the uri value ends in 7 are displayed.

4. Matches

Identifies field values that match a specified regular expression.

How does it work?

This operation requires two arguments:

Argument Format
String to be matched (mandatory) String
Regular expression (mandatory) Regular expression

Example

In the demo.ecommerce.data table, we want to apply a filter that displays only the rows where the cookie value starts with g, ends with q, and it doesn't matter how many characters are in between. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Matches as the operation.

  • String to be matched - cookie column
  • Regular expression - g.q

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows where the cookie value meets the conditions specified in the filter.

5. Starts with

Identifies field values that start with a specific prefix.

How does it work?

This operation requires two arguments:

Argument Format
String (mandatory) String
Prefix (mandatory) String

Example

We want to apply a filter to the demo.ecommerce.data table that will display only the rows where the cookie value starts with the letter g. Select Filter from the query toolbar, then select Starts with as the operation.

After applying the filter, the query displays only those rows whose cookie value starts with g.
