Helpful tips and commands

See below how to perform some tests that simulate a real situation.

Restarting a relay

With this test you can simulate the high-availability relay configuration in case of a complete failure.

Note that you must restart the relay that is actively detected as the virtual IP address.
$ sudo init 6
  • Check to see if the other relay is now showing the virtual IP.

Disconnecting the network service

With this test, you can simulate disconnecting the relay that is currently connected to the virtual IP.

Note that you have to disconnect the networking service in the relay.
$ sudo etc/init.d/networking stop
  • When disconnecting the networking service, make sure you still have a control mechanism by accessing the relay via other methods.
