Configuring and activating the Devo relay

The Devo relay configuration operation is as follows:

  1. Open the hosting application console and log in to the Devo relay virtual machine.
    • User info: logtrust
    • Current password info: changeme

If this is the first login, set a new password as prompted.
  2. Run ifconfig. Note the inet addr value for the first adapter (not lo) in the command output. In this example it is 192.168.0.75.

  3. Use the SSH client to create a session with the virtual machine. These instructions are for PuTTY, but you may use an SSH client of your choice.
    • Launch PuTTY.

Optionally, you can click Connection → Data and in the Terminal-type string field, enter putty. This setting will make the graphical windows in the relay configuration wizard look nicer.

      .

    • In the Session category window, enter the IP address from the previous step into the Host Name (or IP address) field. Click Open.

    • If prompted with a Security Alert to cache the host key, click Yes.
    • Log in:
      • User info: logtrust
      • Password info: use the new password set in the previous step.
    • Leave the SSH client session open.

The PuTTY client enables you to cut and paste directly into the SSH session. This means that in later steps, you can copy commands from these instructions, then switch to the PuTTY window right-click to paste the command directly onto the command line.

  4. Log in to the Devo web application and obtain the API key for relay authentication.
    • Click Administration → Credentials → Acces Keys.
    • Click the Show link in the API Key column.
    • Click the Copy icon next to the key value to put it into the clipboard.

  5. Run sudo logtrust-relay-configure in the SSH client session to start the relay setup program.
  6. The relay setup program guides you through the configuration of the relay.
    • Enter the relay name. This is not the hostname, but just a name that will appear in the list of relays on the Devo application. Do not use special characters in the name. Click OK or press ENTER.

    • Enter the API Key. Step 4 above describes where you can find and copy the API Key. Use SHIFT + INSERT to paste the key from the clipboard. Click OK or press ENTER.

    • Provide proxy information:
      • If you do not have a proxy server click No (if using only a keyboard, use the TAB key to switch to No before hitting ENTER.

      • Select Yes if a proxy is required. Press ENTER to continue. In the steps that appear, enter the address and port of the proxy server. Click OK or press ENTER for each step.

    • Confirm the relay configuration. Click OK or press ENTER.

  7. Now you can activate the relay in the Devo web application.
    • Log in to the Devo web application.
    • Go to Administration → Relays from the navigation panel.
    • Find the newly added relay in the list, and click the activate button next to the relay name. The relay is now active.
