Create a sending policy
Sending policies dictate how to send alerts, to whom, when, and how often. The how to send and to whom of the policy is specified by the delivery methods that are selected for the policy. Therefore, in order to create a sending policy, you must have at least one delivery method already available. The how often is optional and is determined by the anti-flooding policy selected for the policy.
To create a new sending policy:
- Go to Administration → Alert Configuration → Alert Policies.
Select Sending Policy in the left-hand panel, then click the New button. The Sending Policy window appears.
Enter the required information.
Name Enter a unique name to describe the policy. Set as default policy Select to set this as the default policy for new alerts and predefined alerts that have not actively been assigned a sending policy. Anti-Flooding Policy (Optional) Select an anti-flooding policy to limit the frequency of distribution for persistent alerts. Select none (no antiflooding policy will be applied), Default Anti-flooding policy (the system default policy—a maximum of 5 alerts during 1h and if repeated, a reminder after 1h) or any of the anti-flooding policies defined by you. Days of Week, From, To Indicate the days of the week and the hours during which alerts should be distributed. The time zone defined in the delivery method(s) selected are used to calculate times. Delivery type Select the types of delivery methods. Delivery method Select from the available delivery methods set up for the selected Delivery type. The delivery methods are listed by their names.
- Click Add after each combination of Delivery type and method you select.
- Click the Save button.
