Add a query to your aliased finder
There are two ways to add a query to your aliased finder:
From the Favorite Queries list
The list of queries that you have marked as favorites appears in the lower part of the Finder tab in the Data Search area.
To add one of your favorite queries to your aliased finder, simply click theicon at the end of the query's row.
When you are thinking about setting up your aliased finder, it's a good idea to first mark your chosen queries as favorites. This will give you a chance to think about the queries that you use frequently and come up with a hierarchical naming scheme that makes sense for you. While the queries are marked as favorites, you can edit their aliases. However, once a query has been added to the aliased finder, its alias cannot be changed.
From the data table
You can also add a query to your aliased finder directly from inside the query window.
- Select Additional tools → Query Info → Finder Entry Point from the toolbar.
- Enter the new Search Name. We strongly recommend that you use the tag format of levels separated by dots in order to make the best use of the aliased finder. As you type the alias tag into the Search Name field, the levels will appear below to reflect how they will appear in the aliased finder. Mark as Finder Entry Point is selected by default. Click Save and Mark to add the query to the aliased finder.
- A confirmation message appears warning you that by adding the query to the aliased finder, marking it as "findable", it will be protected against modifications. This means that you will not be able to save any changes you might make to the query in future and that you will not be able to edit the query's alias. If you are not completely sure that the query is exactly as you need it yet, then click No, maybe later. Otherwise, click Yes, mark now to add the query to the aliased finder.
