Add a search to your aliased finder

There are two ways to add a search to your aliased finder:

  • From the My Favorite Searches list in the Finder
  • From the search window

From the My Favorite Searches list

The list of searches that you have marked as favorites appears in the lower part of the Finders tab in the Data Search → Explore Your Data area. To add one of your favorite searches to your aliased finder, simply click the  icon at the end of the search row.

Note that your favorite search aliases must follow the tag format of levels separated by dots to be properly classified in the aliased finder. Otherwise, they will appear as a single level in the finder. The aliases of your favorite searches cannot be modified in the My Favorites Searches list. To do it, you must open the search by selecting its alias, and click the search name that appears under Data Search in the navigation pane. See Rename a search for more information.

From the search window

You can also add a search to your aliased finder directly from the search window.

  1. After accessing the required data table, click the gear icon and select Search actions → Add to aliased finder.

  2. Enter the new Search Name. We strongly recommend that you use the tag format of levels separated by dots in order to make the best use of the aliased finder. As you type the alias tag into the Search Name field, the levels will appear below to reflect how they will appear in the aliased finder. Add as aliased finder entry point is selected by default. Click Save and add to add the search to the aliased finder.

  3. A confirmation message appears warning you that by adding the search to the aliased finder, it will be protected against modifications. This means that you will not be able to save any changes you might make to the search in the future and that you will not be able to edit the search's alias. If you are not completely sure that the search is exactly as you need it yet, then click No, maybe later. Otherwise, click Yes, add now to add the search to the aliased finder.

Once you add it to the aliased finder, the search is blocked. The Incognito Mode icon appears in the toolbar whenever you are working with a blocked search. The first time you perform an action such as creating a column, applying a filter, grouping your data or changing the time range, the following message appears to inform you that your changes will not be saved unless you clone the search. If you decide not to clone it but you change your mind afterwards, you can click the Incognito icon on the toolbar to get the message again so you can confirm it and clone the search.
