## About delivery methods

Create a delivery method for each of the desired recipients of triggered alerts and for each of the distribution types available in your organization. You will associate delivery methods with [sending policies](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95127214) in order to specify how to send alerts and to whom. A sending policy may have one or many delivery methods.

Delivery methods are managed in the **Administration → Alert configuration** area, in the **Delivery Methods** tab, and then inside the tab of the relevant delivery method type.

## What permissions do I need?

Apart from the *Manage* version of the *Alert configuration* permission, you also need the *Manage* version of the corresponding delivery method permission to access the different delivery methods tabs and perform these tasks (more info about permissions [here](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/94763681)).

If you have the *View* version of these permissions, you will only be able to see the existing delivery methods but not to perform any of the tasks described in this article.

## Create a delivery method

Select the tab of the delivery method you want to create. Then click the **New** button at the top right (if there are no methods created yet, this button appears in the center), fill in the required details in the **New Delivery Method** window, and click **Create**. Once created, the delivery method is available to use when configuring sending policies (visit [Create and manage sending policies](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95127214) to know more).

The new method is saved in **Pending** status and a validation message is sent to the specified recipient, which must be confirmed before this delivery method can be used.

## Edit a delivery method

Find the desired delivery method in the corresponding tab and click the ellipsis icon that appears at the end of the row. Select **Edit**, make the necessary changes in the **Delivery Method** window and click **Apply**.

## Delete a delivery method

Find the desired delivery method in the corresponding tab and click the ellipsis icon that appears at the end of the row. Select **Delete** and confirm the warning message that appears.
