## About Activeboards
An** Activeboard** is similar to a canvas hosting graphic widgets, where data is accessed through visualization and analytics tools. The widgets can be fed with data of your choice. **Activeboards** have many uses, such as visualizing statistics on the most viewed items. Users with the required role permissions will see the **Activeboards** option in the navigation pane. Learn more about who can access the Activeboards area and what they can do [in the section below](#users).
These are the highlights of Activeboards:
- More intuitive, user-friendly interface to easily [find and manage your Activeboards](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207274).
- Easy access to the data settings and visual configuration of your [widgets](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207404).
- Along with [Devo aggregation tasks](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/94763942), now you can use recently used and favorite queries to feed your widgets. Moreover, you can directly write your source queries in the editor using the LINQ language.
- Smoothly activate [edit mode](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207321) and assign Activeboards to specific roles to manage access permissions.
- [Share your Activeboards](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207345) with other roles in the domain and manage the access level of each role easily.
- Now you can add [inputs](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207999) to your Activeboard. Inputs are flexible and powerful features that let you apply dynamic data filters to your widgets. A query script that feeds a widget in the Activeboard can contain a placeholder variable that references the value activated in a specific input. So, you can use the value selected in an input to filter the data displayed in a widget.

## What permissions do I need?
There are 3 different permissions that allow users to work with Activeboards:
| ***Activeboards (view)*** | You can access the **Activeboards** area to see the Activeboards that have been shared with your role. These Activeboards are only in *view* mode (you can see the widgets' data or edit the time ranges and visual settings but changes will not be saved).
You cannot create new Activeboards or share them. |

| ***Activeboards (manage)*** | You can access the **Activeboards** area, create and manage Activeboards and widgets freely, as well as access the Activeboards that have been shared with your role and perform the actions specified in the sharing process (*view* or *edit*).
You can also share Activeboards, both the ones you create and the ones shared with your role. The sharing possibilities are determined both by sharer and receiver (learn more about sharing Activeboards [here](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/95207345)). |
| ***User resources*** | You can access the **Activeboards** area, create and manage Activeboards and widgets freely, as well as access and edit all the Activeboards in the domain.

> ℹ️ Keep in mind that apart from the required permissions to access Activeboards, users need the *Finders* permission to be able to see the widget's data, or add query data when creating a new widget (more about permissions [here](https://devodocs.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/latest/pages/94763681)).
